Free Samples this Sunday on Southland at Lexington Farmers Market

We have lots of seasonal ferments to share samples of with you this Sunday July 14. Many of these were created with vegetables grown locally by our Seedleaf community gardeners. We will be giving away free samples at the Lexington Farmers Market from 10am - 2pm at the Southland Drive location.

Seasonal Ferments we are bringing for you to sample or purchase:

  • Chimichurri sauce – a tasty condiment, dipping sauce, marinade or cooking ingredient originating in Argentina, often used on top of grilled meats. Instead of the usual parsley we are using a close relative, Carrot Top Greens, in our fermentation along with oregano, garlic, jalapeño, shallots, lime, salt & pepper.
  • Garlic Scape paste – Many of you have already tasted our scape paste and loved it. We have one more gallon to bring to you to use on your bagels with cream cheese or mix up into a delicious pesto for your pasta.
  • Garlic Scape Kraut – We still have a few more jars of this limited seasonal kraut made with garlic scapes from Seedleaf gardens with cabbage, carrot, coriander, fresh turmeric, red chili and of course sea salt.
  • Fermented Ketchup
  • Fermented Spicy Mustard
  • Carrots with Ginger and Lemon – Eat this right out of the jar or add to a salad or my favorite idea is to use it to make the most delicious carrot cake! We are bringing samples of the carrot cake.
  • Carrot Cake made with fermented gingered carrots with recipe below from Kirsten Shockey adapted from Sally Fallon's Nourishing Traditions book.
  • Banchan - we will have several kinds of kimchi Bachan inspired ferments to try.
